Sony Rai

Sony Rai is a visual artist based in Kathmandu, Nepal. She completed her MFA from Central Department of Fine Arts, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu with a major in printmaking. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Prashant Scholarship Award. Using techniques such as aquatint, woodcut, and lino, Sony explores how societies and individuals evolve across cultures and generations. Her artwork tells captivating stories that highlight the significance of cultural heritage as a link to the past. Sony’s art also celebrates the wisdom and adaptability of older generations as they navigate change and cherish their family connections. She has participated in the Jogja Biennale as well as various workshops and group exhibitions.
