Meaning Within Meaning

April 21 – May 5

Exhibited Artists

Arthabhitra ko Artha: ‘Meaning within Meaning’ presents my subjective interpretations into objective realities that surround me. The sculptures and sculptural installations are my experiments into various mediums in order to reflect on questions about the value of divergent ideas and ways of life.  By incorporating ignored and commonplace objects in my work, I try to imagine the potential for transformation within them.  The works are metaphors for ideas and feelings that too are seen as being without value, and are a reflection into their underlying worth. My works are an amalgam of the hand, heart and the head, for each of these informs how I shape, feel and reflect on the materials and ideas that motivate me.

My sculptures and installations fuse different mediums and techniques to imagine works that reveal monumentality and imperishability. They contain within them the time and care I have invested in them through the several decades over which  I have collected the objects and revisited my experiments with them. The exhibition presents new experiments with materials and ideas while incorporating works from over two decades of art practice.  The exhibition hopes to instill in viewers a similar sense of curiosity and wonder towards underlying value of disregarded objects and feelings.
